Whilst phones are not banned, Youth Members are not required to bring a mobile phone.
Tablets are being provided to each Unit to access any required Jamboree information and catch-up on Jamboree news.
Contingents will also be providing guidance to their attendees and their Jamboree Scout Leaders on this matter.
ESSENTIAL RULE
No mobile phones are permitted inside or immediately outside of toilet, shower or changing facilities (e.g., walking past talking on the phone is ok, hanging around outside the building with your phone to record is not ok).
Youth Participants
Note that no charging infrastructure will be provided and that individuals take full responsibility for any loss or damage.
The Jamboree Scout Leaders (in consultation with Unit Council) will determine how phones are used by their unit. It is recommended that phones are secured in a Unit lockbox when not in use – both for security of the device and to manage usage hours.
Each Unit will develop a Code of Conduct which includes expectations around responsible mobile phone usage such as:
Venturer Scout Service Leaders
Venturer Scout Service Leaders are allowed to bring their own device, on the understanding that they take full accountability for any loss or damage. You will need to consider how to keep your device charged with limited charging infrastructure on site (e.g., solar panels, battery packs & limiting use).
Venturer Scouts will be expected to sign a Code of Conduct developed by the Service Venturer Subcamp. This will include expectations around responsible mobile phone usage such as:
