Effective waste management at the Jamboree is vital to the health and well-being of all participants.
Adjacent to each Subcamp water and sullage point there are three bins:
- a recycling bin for cardboard and paper, batteries, dry recyclables, soft plastics, etc.
- a bin for deposit scheme recyclables (10c cans& bottles)
- a general waste bin. Waste foodstuffs should be put in this bin
There are also waste and recycling bins located around the site.
The contents of the recycling and deposit scheme bins are sorted onsite to prepare for various recycling streams.
There is a larger waste skip available on each Subcamp site and there is a cardboard waste skip available at The Shed food distribution centre.
Unit Rubbish
- All unit rubbish must be bagged, not put directly into bins.
- Each unit must supply their own site bins.
Jamborees can generate a lot of waste (especially on pack up). Please do what you can to minimise this waste and maximise recycling.
